A vintage square silver tone powder compact dating from the 1930's
The lid has a beautiful foiled landscape design with mountains, forest and
river with boats
The base has an engine turned design
Inside is a perforated flap with a flat handle which you turn to allow the
powder in the pot underneath to be swept up through the perforations.
This flap has the patent number 378540 which was registered in 1931 to Charles
Ernest Collins, Birmingham, UK
The compact measures approx 2" square
A similar double compact can be seen in MIller's Powder Compacts Guide (2000)
and is attributed to Boots the Chemist although this one has no markings other
than the patent number
In excellent vintage condition apart from a few tiny scratches on the polished
steel mirror - please see photos
