Description
Ingredients: calendula flowers, marshmallow root, peppermint, coconut oil,
olive oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, beeswax, unrefined cocoa butter,
peppermint essential oil
I love using this in the winter time when my heels get cracked. The mint is
tingly, and the cocoa butter smells amazing. I love the moisture that this balm
gives my tired, cracked feet after a full day of working on the farm.
First I measure out all my herbs and flowers. I let the flowers and herbs
infuse for several weeks in the body oils, and then I warm them over a double
boiler to help extract everything I can from the plants. When the oils and
plants have gotten warm on the stove for several hours, I strain everything
into a separate container and squeeze every last bit out of the plants.
Once everything is infused, I add the beeswax and essential oils and handpour
the mixture into tins.
Every batch takes days to weeks to complete, and it’s all done by hand in my
own kitchen.
I grow as many of my own herbs and flowers as I can in my own herb garden, and
what I can’t grow, I buy organic and fair trade from reputable herb suppliers
such as Mountain Rose Herbs and Frontier Co-op. I also use locally sourced
ingredients as much as I can.
